The Dragons were invited to take on the veterans of MBI Llandudno Football Club to raise funds for a local youth boxing club. We were more than happy to accept the challenge and began selecting the team. The Dragons were a mix of original players who have been with our squad from the beginning and a selection of new faces that have made there way through to the squad by joining our Friday night training sessions. In front of the Dragons was 90 minutes of tough football against legends of the game.
The Dragons were quicker from the start, youth making a big hit using the wings; the Dragons were soon in front with Josh Daniels netting his first which was shortly followed by new boy Nidian Jones. Llandudno Veterans pushed on and were unlucky on a few occasions but had managed to net two as the half time whistle went.
The Dragons made a few subs at half time, strengthening the back and midfield and were soon in control of things again. Llandudno were trying by any means necessary to get through the wall of the Welsh Dragon emblazoned Raging Bull made GAP Personnel sponsored kits, this led to the home team going down to ten men for the remainder of the game early in the second half. The Dragons took advantage of this with Josh Daniels getting his second goal of the night. A third goal was created for Llandudno shortly after a range of subs were made by the home team. New manager Mark “Berger” Williams decided to switch the Dragons around a bit and brought Ciran Jones back on to the pitch in defensive midfield. Ciran shortly after coming on saw a route through to goal straight down the middle, taking oncoming challenges he scored his first goal for the Dragons. The Dragons were now in full control with a few minutes to spare, with more chances being created but unfortunately none were converted.
The final whistle blew making it 3-4 to the North Wales Dragons. A huge thank you to the players of MBI Llandudno Football Club for the match and to the kind staff who made us feel very welcome.
Until next time
